Term Limits Pledge

FORT WORTH, [January 15, 2024] — Today, Shellie Gardner, Candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives, vying for the seat soon to be vacated by the retiring Kay Granger in Texas District 12, announced her signing of the Term Limits Pledge.

A cornerstone of Gardner’s campaign is her unwavering commitment to government accountability and transparency. Notably, Gardner is not a career politician, bringing a fresh perspective to the political landscape. As part of her dedication to a government that serves the people, she proudly signed the Term Limits Pledge, signaling her commitment to advocating for term limits for members of Congress. This pledge underscores Gardner’s belief in fostering a political environment that encourages new voices and prevents the entrenchment of career politicians.

The U.S. Term Limits amendment pledge is provided to every announced candidate for federal office. The U.S. Term Limits constitutional amendment has been introduced in both the U.S. Senate by Senator Ted Cruz and his colleagues (SJR 2) and the U.S. House by Representative Ralph Norman (HJR 11). House Joint Resolution 11 has over one hundred co-sponsors from both political parties.

Gardner, a resident of District 12 since 1998, an electrical engineer, and business owner, believes that by limiting the time representatives spend in office, the government can better reflect the evolving needs and aspirations of the community. She plans to serve then go home, “…like the Founders intended”.

According to the latest nationwide poll on term limits conducted by McLaughlin and Associates, term limits enjoy wide bipartisan support. An overwhelming 82% of voters approve of a constitutional amendment that will place term limits on members of Congress regardless of political persuasion.

“By signing the Term Limits Pledge, I am making a commitment to the people of District 12 that I will work tirelessly to bring about positive change and put their interests first.”

Gardner’s campaign is gaining momentum, and she looks forward to engaging with the community, hearing their concerns, and working collaboratively to address the challenges ahead. She is the only candidate in her race to sign the pledge.
